Certificate of Proficiency in English is an examination at a proficient level, requiring competence in all the language skills, set at level C2 of the Council of Europe's Common Framework for languages.

Typical users at C2 level can be expected to:

  • understand documents, correspondence and reports, including the finer points of complex pieces of writing
  • advise on or talk about complex or sensitive issues, understanding colloquial references and dealing confidently with hostile questions
  • write on any subject and take full notes of meetings or seminars with good expression and accuracy.

 

  • Reading (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Writing (2 hours)
  • Use of English (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Listening (40 minutes)
  • Speaking (19 minutes)
